Резюме: The Second Empire (1853–1870) remains in the history of architecture in France with the largest reorganization of Paris and its transformation into a model for all other European capitals. The new plan of the city was developed under the leadership of Georges Eugène Haussmann, known as Baron Haussmann, prefect of Paris from 1853 to 1869. It was at that time when Paris took its today’s appearance with wide and straight boulevards. The plans of Baron Haussmann for the reconstruction of Paris consider train stations as part of the new transport communications. For the World Expo in 1900 the railway company Paris Orleans built on the left bank of the Seine, opposite the Tuileries Garden, the Orsay train station. The new station is the epitome of the latest technical and engineering achievements and their practical application. It is the first electricity station in Paris. In 1900, the artist Edward writes about Orsay: "The station is beautiful and looks like a palace of fine arts...". Today, eighty-six years later, his prediction came true. In 1975, the Directorate of Museums in France decided to create a new museum in the building of the railway station Orsay. After the complicated work on the reconstruction of the building and the arrangement of the permanent exhibition, President Francois Mitterrand opened the new museum on December 1, 1986. Today Orsay Museum is a world-renowned art museum with millions of visitors. Its exhibition present priceless works of art created by French artists and sculptures from the period 1848–1914.
